Anyone seen or made nerf bars for a Sportsman 500HO?

 

I've never seen it but i dont think it owuld be ahrd to make some fit.

How did you build them? parts / tubing type / where did you bolt them to? Do they work well?

 

If you look under your floorboard you should see 2 rails coming from your main frame that supports your floorboard. I took 2 pieces of 2 1/2 wide metal held them edge way to the 2 pieces coming from the fame and drill 2 holes in each and bolted them to it. I cut the frount one shorter and the back one longer so when I got against it would push me off. Held the tube up to the metal and welded them.I got the tube from a craftsman lawn mower brush guard it was bent just right. Looked at it one day and said that would make great nerf bars and it did. My friend busted his floorboard one day that why I made these I didn't want to have to spend over a $100.00 for a new one like he did. We just got a tube bender this weekend and are going to try to make some for my friend 700. The nerf bars have saved my floorboards more than once. Hope this helps.

I just wanted to say thanks to 20045SP500HO and SPORTSMAN70003 for the great idea I got from their post on this fourm back in 2004. I searched sportsman nerf bars and came upon this post a few weeks ago (feb. 2006) when I was new to the fourms. I looked at both of their cool creations and decided to make a set for my own quad.
