Honda 400ex or Polaris Sportsman H.O. 500 4x4
#1
I ride mostly in the woods, love the mud,
also play at Pismo beach, Ca. a little
Which quad is faster and who has actually ridden both giving me the experiencing of someone actually riding a 500 4x4.
I like the idea of having a 500 4x4 and blazing through mud and climbing any hill I steer it at. Disadvantages I don't think it has the manuverability and speed like the 400ex on the mx track. Tell me what you think?

Are you sure you did'nt mean Scrambler 500? Comparing a 400EX to the SP 500 is like comparing a sports car to a crewcab dually.
Here is the order in which you listed the types of riding you do...
1. mostly trails
2. love the mud
3. playing at Pismo
4. hill climbs
5. MX track
Based upon the list, in that order, then the 500 is the way to go. The HO 500 is a great all-around machine with lots of potential, not to knock the 400, but it's purely a sports quad.
If you would've never mentioned mud, hill climbs I'd of suggested the 400EX. I think you'll be amazed at how the 500 handles the sand with some paddles!
