Advice needed for storage near ocean!
#1
I have two Raptors and one Polaris Sport 400 that I keep in a garage near the beach in Rocky Point, Mexico.
I keep them under a plastic tarp.
I have noticed that many of the galvanized nuts and bolts, as well as any bare metal, has begun to seriously oxidize and/or rust.
Does anyone have a suggestion on how to prevent this?
I am assuming it is because of the humid, ocean air????
I was thinking about spraying some type of armor all, or similar product, all over on the entire ATV (engine, body, suspension, etc.).
My thought was that this protective coating may slow the premature oxidation from occurring.
However, it is very dusty where I ride so I hate to put something on them ATV’s and then after one ride, have them coated with an armor all induced muddy dirt mess.
Does anyone have any experience with this?
Thanks!

I ride at pismo. After washing the quads, I spray them down with WD40. There is some dust build up But, nothing that I can't live with out. You could wipe the excessive off.

Yes.....I always wash it after I ride....It is the humidity in the air that is breaking the metal down.
I never ride through salt water or wet sand....
How do you apply the WD40?

I usually go thru a whole can,,,,after a washing,,,,,I spray it on everything,,,except for maybe the seat, grips, footpegs.
Some people buy it in bulk 1 gallon jugs and spray it on with a spray bottle (cheaper)

I buy mine at Costco, something like $6 for 3 cans. Sometimes, they even have a $2 rebate And like Bing, I use a whole can.
Oh yea, I just spray it on.

How hard is it to wash your ATV after you ride in dusty conditions?
Thanks!
