Can anyone tell me why I shouldn't buy a Bayou 220 ? It seems like a real nice ride but I don't know much about this quad. Any good or bad information would help me out.

Positives: They are bullet proof, fun to ride, fairly quiet and small enough to fit in the back of a full size pickup w/ a cab high topper (but you have to loosen the handle bars and fold them down).

Negatives: Significant push steer, not fast, low ground clearance.

I bought one for my 7 year old......I think I ride it more often.

Mine works fine too but the thing I don't like is the ticking sound that it makes all the time, I don't know if all of them do but I know that mine does. But I don't think that it's anything serious that I should be worrying about. But it is a good machine to ride, in my oppinion.

I have to agree, the ticking sound does get to you. Look at the 300 2x4, it has more power, a bigger frame, a trick rear diff all at a rather cheap price.

Excellent bike - Fast Trekkers on the front stops the push. Bought a 94 model for my son & he rode the he** out of it. My sister now gives it an easier life, but it still runs strong. Adjust the valves regularly. The front, drum brakes will take regular(and frequent) maintenance if you get them wet a lot.

after you adjusted the valves on your 220 did the ticking sound stop? Just wondering if that's what the problem is with it.

I second the motion on the 2WD 300 and wished I had spent the extra bucks on it instead of my 220.
However, please don't take me wrong. My 220 has performed flawlessly. The 300 is simply provides more power per dollar. The open differential with the locking feature is a definite plus as well.

I have the same problem with the ticking sounds... I agree its probably the valves but its not constant and doesnt irritate me too much.. .It really only does that shifting down from 4th to 3 and 3rd to 2nd gears.... some times does it hauling around in 5th gear if u ride the thing hard all day. I love my 220 b/c its small, and goes fast enough for me (50mph) or so...
