Does anyone have one of these manuals? They are no longer available through Kawasaki. If you have one, could you make a complete copy for me? If so what would you charge?

 

I don't know if you know this but, you need 2 manuals for the 86. You need the base manual that covers the 84-85. Then you need the 86 supplement. About half of the stuff in the 86 part says, see base manual, so you have to have both. The only place I know that they have shown up is e-bay. Just keep looking, that is where I found mine.

 

So a base manual for the 1986 Tecate was never published? I just saw a supplement manual listed on Ebay for the 1986 Tecate, I didn't have my Tecate then so I didn't buy it. Does the 1985 service manual cover the KIPS engine? Does it have detailed pictures of the 1986 Tecate?

 

No, there was not a base manual ever published for the 86 Tecate. No, the 85 manual does not cover the KIPS motor, that is what you need the 86 supplement manual for. Also for detailed pics of the 86 you will need the 86 supplement. I just totaly went through the engine on my 86 and could not have done it w/o both manuals.

I just picked up an 84-85 base manual and the 86 supplement. I still don't understand why the 84-85 manual is needed; I picked it up anyways, but after I thought about it I had doubts. I feel this way because the 84-85 Tecate is completely different from the 86 Tecate, nothing is the same; the 86 Tecate is a breed of it's own. If no similarities exist between the two, then why would the 84-85 base manual be needed? I still believe that there is in fact an 86 base manual, but they must be extremely rare. I do know that Clymer made an ATC manual that covers the 86-87 Tecate, I'll probably buy this as well.
