Building own Quad, or Attempting.
#1
I have always wanted to build something of my own. I have always dreamed of restoring my own bowtie muscle car in the future, but I want to build something now. My dad is a really good welder, he builds ATV, Lawn Mower, ETC trailors on the side for a hobbie and enjoys it. I think if me and my dad got together we could easily build a ATV frame. It's just the Suspension part I think we will have a problem with and installing the motor to make it fit. The front IRS will prolly be tricky. Has anyone in this forum ever attempted to build a Quad? If so please give me some details on what you did or if anybody has any ideas please tell me. I know its prolly harder than it seems to be. Thanks.

Yea, when I say my own I mean building my own frame. I dont know exactly what kind of engine yet, I will have to figure out what engine first before I build the frame first I know for sure.

If you want to risk getting seriously hurt or killed every time you ride it then go ahead. Companies put millions of dollars into R&D on these quads, nothing you could build is going to compare to a factory quad. There would be way to much fabrication on your part, only to wind up with something half as good as whats on a stock quad. If you want to waste your money and time making a death trap, go for it. Your best bet would be to find a used frame on ebay and starting piecing a quad together, with NO homemade parts.

I just wont to find a cheap frame where I wont spend alot of money and I can fix or restore myself. The only thing I really wont to spend some money on is the engine. I want to build something that has a awesome power to weight ratio that I can take to Buckleberrys and race. Im sick of mudding.
