Stroker Crank
#1
Any one use the Falicon strocker crank with roller bearing conversion? http://www.faliconcranks.com/atv.htm

Woops! I'm not being accurate.
The 88mm is a drop in crank. The 91mm requires case mods.

Welcome to the forums. Nice to have a builder on here.
Are you only going through HP Research?
Just a couple weeks ago you had all your DS Kits on your web site??? 105 sleeved cylinder, 770 kit, 800 kit.
If you don't mind me asking, what happened with your relationship with TVI? Seemed like you were working with them recently? I didn't see the HP Research links last week?

For that particular configuration, yes. The cranks we do for TVI are different. I'll be adding a link to TVI later, but we had this pesky hurricane hit us and we don't have power right now.

I screwed up. I'll explain below.

Things are fine with TVI. But I screwed up and posted their crank with a price that was for another model crank. My bad. My mistake caused them a lot of grief, and made them look bad to their customers. I quickly changed it, but not soon enough. Worse, some of the data (like it being a drop-in crank) was wrong. Sometimes it sucks to be me. So right now, TVI might not be happy with _me_, since _I_ messed things up for them. But they still build engines with our crank.
Besides crank repair and mods, Falicon does specialty cranks under the following situations:
1> Factory Prototype - top secret projects that we'll never discuss.
2> Custom Manufacture - We make an entire production run and sell all of it to a single distributor who will stock, sell and provide support. An example would be our Billet Cannondale cranks that will be sold by www.haydougcycles.com. (as soon as we finish them).
3> Custom configuration - an engine architect decides on a combination, and asks us to build a specific crank for his combination. Example: TVI and HP Research.
4> Standard Mod - this is a mod that we make available to all. Example: longer stroke Yamaha YFZ crank that uses a standard piston.
5> Standard Production: Billet cranks that we will stock and sell to anyone. Example: our new TRX Billet stroker cranks.
For us to stroke a crank, someone has to do some engineering. What stroke, rod, bore, piston, rod length? Will the piston hit the crank? Will the rod hit the cases? Will you need to modify the cases? Will it need a spacer plate, longer studs and cam chain? Are head mods needed? What compression ratio is best? What jetting? What pipe? Engineering all this takes a long time and it has to be done. When we do it, it becomes a standard item for us to sell. When someone else does it, we prefer to let them provide the crank and related services. After all, whoever does the engineering should have the answers.
I get calls every day asking for Honda TRX-450 cranks, so we are going to manufacture them. But it took months to iron out all the details. We can't do everything, so we make a priority list, based on demand. Naturally, Honda and Yamaha are top sellers and there's a lot of demand for those. Thus they get developed first.
The TVI and HR Research cranks are custom configurations. Both guys did the research and came up with a combination of stroke, bore, piston assembly and other factors. They asked us to build the cranks to their designs, and we don't tell anyone else the details. You can't call us and ask us for the same crank as TVI. We'll refer you to TVI. But if a builder comes to us and places a production order for a DS-650 crank that uses a Chevy 454 piston and a 14" rod, _and_ orders an entire production run, we'll build them.... and they are responsible for making it all work. After all, they are the ones who designed that particular configuration.
TVI and HP Research already did all the engineering and know what stroke they want and what case mods are necessary. It's easy for us to make a crank, to their specs. Since they know all the details to make that combination work, it makes sense for us to send customers to them. The goal to for the rider to be happy, and if I sold you their crank and could NOT answer you questions as to what piston, case mods, head mods, etc, you'd be pretty unhappy. That's why TVI and HP Research are the places to go if you want our DS-650 crank. They have all the answers and can build a complete engine.
Sorry to be so long winded.
