My neighbor had a 96 Lakota. I had a 96 Warrior & both were bone stock. The Lakota would run with the Warrior on acceleration, but the 6th gear on the Warrior would give it the edge on top speed. The Lakota was extremely dependable & handled like a dream(better than the Warrior) - was a great jumper & climbed anything! The stock rear tires were lousy in mud. It is probably the fastest sport quad with an auto clutch. Sounded real nice, too.

Well Blazer I run a 99 Lakota and for the first year I ran it with only minor mods. Stock it would do about 52 MPH and with a K&N, a jet kit, and a DG pipe it will do about 60 MPH. As for wheelies it is not the best machine, I do them all the time yet you need more ponies to be able to pull a long wheelie. The mods for the Lakota are basically impossible to get, and the place that does do them will charge you alot.
If you have any specific questions e-mail me.

you have been well informed so far about the lakota..........here are a few more pros & cons for you to consider.

pros..... great woods bike, great trail blazing machine, only auto clutch machine with decent suspension, good power, easy to ride, excellent brakes (3 discs), tail light works as brake light too.

cons.......... very bad air filter design, cheap rubber band on tool box cover dry rots often, heavy front end (not a wheelie bike), not easily servicable, 2001 models are now sold without racks(rear rack is an option).

if you can find a left over 2000 model at a dealer, I would buy it. If you don't want racks, buy a 300ex. JMHO
