Default Oil coming back through the airfilter??

Today I was cleaning my 2001 TrialBoss, I took off the seat to take a look at my airfilter and there was a bunch of oil inside that box thing. I was guessing that it had came through the airfilter, so I cleaned it all up and took it out for about an hour ride then when I got back I checked it again and there was more. I was just wondering if this was normal or if somthing is screwed up?

Thanks

I don't have a Trail Boss, but I do have a Scrambler 500...

The crank case vent on the scrammy vents into the airfilter. I know this because I rolled it over and oil ended up on my airfilter...

I know you didn't roll it over, but if you overfill the oil it will blow out the vent tube... I know this, because I overfilled my predator and it blew out the vent tube into my airbox...

I'd check your owner's manual for the oil checking proceedure. I have to run my machines until they warm up, then wait one minute and then check it (or something like that, I don't have my manual here right now).

In short, you might have it over-full with oil.

Would this problem result in a top speed decrease? Because about 2 months ago the top speed on it was 45mph and then today I went out to check the speed and I only got 40mph.

Yea I over filled my trail boss once and it soaked the air filter with motor oil. The decrease in speed is most likely caused by the engine nit being able to breathe. You will need to replace the air filter if itgot oil soaked.

Damn, oh well. Would it be worth the money if I bought a performance airfilter? Would I tell a difference from the original top speed of 45?

I have no clue lol. I noticed that you have the K&N air filter, Does it help with the speed or anything?

i dont have a speedometer but i dont think you get a hole lot more speed from the filter but it does seem to pull harder all the way to the top speed...some people do say they got a higher top speed though...
