Best bet is to get a Clymer manual for it. They have them on e-bay and at the dealers all the time. The manual is for all Polaris quad through '96 I think. It is not too bad for info on the Cyclone. It is a two stroke so there is no oil in the engine. You have an oil tank for two stroke oil that comes up thruogh the gas tank. The Tranny takes like 16oz of chaincase oil. It's not very much, but I'm not sure of the exact amount. It is much less than the 250s of today.

Actually back when we had our old Cyclone, I e-mailed polaris and they sent me, specs on measurements of the quad, along with all the liquid info I'd need to maintain it. That was probably 5 yars ago so I am not sure if it has changed a whole lot or not.
E-mail polaris and see what they can do for you.

does anyone know how to fix the recoil start, the spring that is inside has sprung loose, also is there anyplace to get new internals for the recoil start, or has anyone put an electric start on a cyclone, what would one need for that, also i ordered a hayes manual, is it as good as a clymer, thanks

A Polaris dealer is going to be the best bet on recoil parts. You may have to upgrade to newer style parts, but it should be basically the same as newer 250s after that. The motors haven't changed much externally over the years. I have a Clymer manual so I'm not sure on the Haines manual. Just so you know, I had two Cyclones. Great quad for what it is, an old hi performance auto tranny.
