Default New blaster top end is here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

my top end is finally back!!!! the whole rebuild to .5 over cost me 196. i started putting it on today , as well as my blockoff, but i had a problem mostly with the b/o. i got everthing straight, until i got to the carb, i didnt feel like drilling and tapping so i cut the hose short, clamped it down really tite, then doubled back, and clamped again. hopefully i can put all the other parts on tomorrow, so i can fire it up. this leads me to asking what the best way to break in a 2-stroke is. i know that four strokes need to be warmed up, then ridden like you stole it, but i dont know about two strokes.

also, i am going to the white mountains this weekend, which would be about 6500 feet or something like that, its the same as the cinders shown in rapfam's vids. i live at about 3500 in tucson, i think. i was wondering, since you would normally have to re-jet could i just put my k&n on and jet it with the lid off? or compensate for it by doing something like that? if not, where could i get a jet really fast that i could use. i am going to use my stock pipes, since we will be trail riding in our future hunting-grounds. if i could get them from a yamaha dealer how much would the jet i need cost?
eventually i want to get a jet kit, is 35 bucks and shipping a good price? this way i dont need to buy so many jets. and, does putting a reed spacer on require me to re-jet? and do new reeds also?

thanks for the help!!!!!!!!!!!

the best way is it to half it running rich and not realy get on it. 1)start it, turn it off.2) start it, warm it up, ride it for 10 minutes, let it cool alll the way down.3) start it, ride it for 20 min, let it cool down.4) start it, ride it for 30 min, let it cool down.4) lean it out, put a fresh plug bc that other one is prolly shot from richening and not womping on it, start it up, let it warm up, take it easy for a bit, and well...... u kno the rest.

I got all the jets for my blaster from a local dealer. they cost me two bucks, flat out. no shipping, nothin. just $2. this was alot cheaper than i had seen in any of the mags.

$35 for a jet kit is a fair price. The average price of a k&n jet kit is usually around the 40 dollar range so if u get it for $35 u wont be doin to bad.

Reed spacers and reeds will most definintly require u to re-jet. with reeds, spacer, filter, pc pipe and silencer, i was running about a 310 main jet. If yr lookin for reeds/ boyseen= low end and V-force =top end (for the most part)

If yr lookin for pipes for yr blaster my pro circuit pipe and silencer are for sale and they'll come with the 250 main jet i was runnin with them. Great increase in performance all the way around. and they finally made it sound like a 2-stroke. PM if yr interested.

i got the whole thing assembled today with the b/o, there is a bunch more throttle response!! its alot better. what i did for break in was just warm up for a couple mins, then ride it up and down the street, then i decided to take it for a spin in the desert with an oil mixture of about 25:1 it was reeeeeallllllyyy rich, i could see my exhaust for a loong time, until about 25 mins of riding, then it went away. im scared that i might have ridden it too hard, because it felt alot more torquie so i tried wheelying, abnd im scared i revved it too high.
but yeah, pc is alot better than DG so keep me informed

The best way to brake in a new engine is to give to a few heat cycles before you ride it. Let it run and warm up, then shut it off and wait until it's cold. Do this a few times and then take it for a ride. It gives things a chance to expand and settle into place before it start taking a load from the motor. I wouldn't worry about it tho, some people say a brake in is a waste of time, Im sure your new motor will be alright.
