It depends on the sand if really want it to grab. I all ways change my PSI in my sand tires every trip because the sand is never the same density. If its colder, the sand is harder, and if its pretty warm outside the sand gets softer. You just have to play with it each time you go out. You get used to it after awhile if your all ways racing in the sand.

Anymore I go by feel instead of actual psi. The fronts aren't as critical as the rears so I just air them up to be just on the firm side of soft. One thing to remember on the rears is that molded tires like Sandstars and Sandskates require a higher psi than do buffed tires with paddles vulcanized on such as Haulers and Edges. If you run a molded tire with too little pressure, it will eventually break down from the paddle folding the tire at the base of the paddle. I ruined a set of Sandskates this way. I usually push on the tire with my foot. If the paddle shows good resistance to getting pushed into the tire, I let it go. If it pushes into the tire fairly easily, I add pressure. If the tire feels pretty firm, I let a little air out. For really soft, dry sand, use less pressure. For hard or wet sand, use a little more.
