Sand tires for a Warrior?
#1
I might be going to the sand dunes next year. I was wondering what would be the best sand tire for a Warrior.
I have read here on the forums that the Warrior might be a little under powered for the dunes. Is this true?

A 20" 6-7 paddle hauler or edge would work, also dune sliders. Geckos are an inexpensive recreational tire, but very heavy. I'll assume you are just duning for fun, not drag racing a lot? However, you don't need paddles for the sand, sometimes its more fun to run knobbies and be able to slide around.

Dune sliders pishh i hate those tires (i have em for the warrior now) they don't work well in the sand where i ride... I'm getting some straight blades... you could of got dune sliders for $15 @ Rockymountain.

I've found just about any paddle tire works OK - I've been running my Warrior at the dunes (Glamis) for the past 10 years and it hangs in pretty good - not great - good. The Warrior is a touch underpowered (lets not fool ourselves) for the dunes but dropping one tooth on the front sprocket really helps get the RPMs in the right place for the sand. Some of the tall hills will be trouble but just side-hill or look for a shallower enrty point and you'll eventually make it. It's actually very fun to ride in the dunes because it takes a little more style and finess to do well and keep up. If you are fairly slim that helps too. Save any weight possible - yank the skid plates, etc....

I should tell you that my quad is still all stock, except for the mods in my sig.
Farmstud,
No racing. Just having fun. Can you see a Warrior taking on a Shee in the sand? Talk about a spanking.....HEHE.
Fisher,
I would take of more weight, but there isn't much to remove. As for me, I weight about 190lbs. Any paddle? Will to many paddles on a tire eat up to much of the warriors HP?
We will be going to Silver Springs, Michigan to ride the dunes.
I will save all this info, so please keep it coming.
Thank you all.

Where is silver springs? I go to silver lake every once in a while but I havent heard of silver springs. Maybe its closer!
Itp sand stars, sand skates, geckos and a few others are all decent paddles for fun. ITP tops my list but as long as you dont get paddlemasters or rooster's you should be ok.
