Ok, that's not me saying this. I think the prairie's locking diff is the best in the industry!

But Polaris, doesn't think so they claim there system is the best and the Prairie's is too complicatied and doesn't work! They show the P700 getting stuck when the Sportsman just cruises thru.

see: promotional video on Polaris web site

This just go to show you can't believe what the media says!

The guys on the nonpolaris quads drive like they are drunk!!! I've ridden both and they can keep there ill handling, poor stoping, gutless tug boat.

If you can overlook the class action suit against polaris for one of the front wheels locking up when you are going 30 mph, they are the best bike..its just hard to ignore a prairie when your head is launched at the dirt, but..hey, thats just me!
And those poor bastids arguing with Polaris over the warrantee...oh, and those pesky starters almost always work almost most of the time..

edit: is it just me or did that driver put the "test" bikes into the same rut, over and over...and then took his polaris up a DIFFERENT section of hill????

Pffffft polaris

I would think there on off the worst, they say the system only works "when the rear wheels slip, then automatically engages both front wheels with full torque" to me thats a loss of momentum waiting for the fronts to engage. Not to mention the thing weights a tone

Yea I would have to say that was funny! The Sportsman's wheels were also VERY clean and the others looked packed with Mud? And by tryin to prove there point it looks like they stopped the other quads to engage 4x4 when on that little hill its not even needed?~LOL Thats a Very Weak Video, The sad thing is some poor sucker will buy one because of it~lol -coop

Sure does.

And the prairie says you can go to FWD without stopping! They say DONT go to 4WD if the wheels are spinning.
And frankly I always stop in the middle of a mud slick to start thinking I needed my 4WD on....pffffft
The time to start engaging 4WD is BEFORE you dive into a mud hole, eh?
I love watching the guy stopping, fumbling with the buttons..truth is ANY of those bikes shown will do a fantastic job of offroading if the driver isn't brain dead. He drove like it was his first time on a bike.

The diff lock lever is nice but not the best system. My diff lock would not disengage on my last derby till I hit some water, the mud was packed underneath the mechanism on the diff and would not let the diff lock disengage, so it was getting harder to steer. An electric solinoid would work great. Instead of using the cable the solinoid wold move that mechanism up and down.
