Default 2004 Rancher ES-No reverse

My quad was working fine one minute then when I got back on to ride some more it wouldn't go into reverse. The little red button goes down and all but I don't even hear a click or anything like it's trying to shift at all. I checked for sticks and leaves, thought maybe something might be blocking something else, but nothing there. I make sure and shift back to neutral when I shut it off but a friend had been riding it and I can't say that it was in neutral when I got on it.Would that have anything to do with it? I still have all the forward gears and it runs fine, I just don't have any reverse. I'm sure manually it would work but this kinda sucks since it's new and all, and I've already taken it back to the dealer once(45 miles away!!)for this same problem and they said the sensor was bad or something to that effect. It's only got 100 hours on it, bought in April '04. Any one else know what I can try before I load it back up and return to the dealer? This has been a real disappointment since this is my first quad and all. thanks for any and all help.

I assume you know that you have to pull the brake lever back in order to shift into reverse. That said you will want to check and make sure your brake is properly adjusted.
