P650 front drive shaft seal replacement pics
#2
I just did the big front seal on the front driveshaft. I ordered my parts 3 weeks ago from my dealer and still didn't get them so I got ahold of one of the seal suppliers that we deal with at work and got the seals from him. He got them overnight at 1/2 the cost. If anyone is interested, the part number for the big front seal on the front driveshaft was 486510-DL. It's 2mm wider than the stocker, but it fit fine so I guess only time will tell if it's gonna work. I also had the rear axle on the left side leaking so I did the seals in there as well. There are 2 seals in the left side so I did both of them while I had it apart. Those seal numbers are 40527-DL and 40588-DL. Total cost for all 3 seals was $14.32 Canadian. The place I got them from is called Kaman Bearings. Way cheaper than Kawie parts.

KOD, I was looking at the pictures on your website for the front driveshaft seal replacement and was wondering why you didn't take off the front final gear case coupling that the front of the front driveshaft goes into? There is only one nut that holds it on and it makes the front seal replacement a lot easier. Also, if you take that coupler off, it answers the question about the gear clash that we hear when we are crawling rocks and such. There are 3 tabs on a piece in the front diff called the shifter that fits into the front final gear case coupling when you put it in 4 wheel drive. Those 3 tabs fit into slots in the coupling with a ton of slop in there. When a guy is traversing rough terrain, that coupling bashes back and forth on those 3 tabs and that is what the clashing sound is. At least, that is how it looks to me anyways!!!

KOD I just put up a post that i asking how replace these the seals then i noticed this. You may be able to answer this question around this, the drive shaft that goes into the front differential has a lot of play up and down, I believe that my bearings are shot, also there is play on the motor side. So do you think the bearing need to be replaced.
