Default Mount Your Own Tires?

Just curious how many of you mount your own tires vs. take the tires/wheels to a tire shop for them to do for you?

i guess i'm lucky. there's a local farm Co-op that'll mount a tire on a rim for $5. the local bike shops want $20+.

I do all my own tires- except my pickup. No machine, just a simple bead breaker, a couple of spoons and some soapy water. Then you can repair any rim dings and make sure the beads are clean- Wal-Mart dosen't really care much. Just did 26" ITP 589's last week.

true, that's why i'm over there shoulder all the way through coaching them. i already asked and the manager said i couldnt do it myself.

they usually do a good job, just try to avoid getting helped by the skinny gothic teen with bad skin who doesnt give a crap about his own life nevermind your tires and wheels
