Default Lakota sport Dg exhaust!

I have a question, Once i put on my Dg Xcclerator exhaust my quad has been buring oil, and yes if your wondering i ride hard, what could be the problem. Do any of you guys with the Supertrapp exhaust have this problem. But you can only really notice a drop in the oil window after serveral long rides.

The pipe doesn't have anything to do with burning oil. You are prob. looking at valve guides and/or piston rings.

Well i know that's it not the piston rings because i over kill on oil changes so i never burnt them up. It might be the valves like you were saying i never really thought of that, well what do you think should i have it serviced and will they adjust the valves and change the oil and look my quad over.

Well, no matter how much you change your oil the rings can, and will, still wear. ESPECIALLY if you ride it hard. Just the nature of the beast. Sure they will look it over and adjust the valves if you ask them to. Does it smoke all the time or just at start up?

You can adjust the valves yourself. I would get a service manual on it and do it yourself. It's not that hard. However, if it's rings you are needing, that is much more involved and can be complicated if you're not sure how to do it. If that's what's needed, might as well get the 330 kit from FST. Makes 'em run like a champ!

Well it really only smokes when i rev it up a lot and the smoke is black and you can barly see it. I think that the valves need to be adjusted and i'll ask my dealer what he might think the problem is. Well tomarrow i'm changing my oil and oil filter and cleaning my air filter and then i'll see how long and how much oil i'll burn. If so i'll probably look into the 330 big bore when i get the money i hear that it's like $500-600 to get the kit and have it put in. Also do you have any information about the big bore like where i can buy one and if i'm wrong on the price can you tell me the total amount to buy the kit and have it put in. Lastly do you know anyone with a 330 kit in their lakota and how it runs and what would be the top spped of my quad then, i heard that you can get the 400ex off the line. Would my quad be as reliable as it is now or would i have to rebuild the motor like every few hours i ride.

Hey on the 330 kit,it will put your top speed at about 65mph (thats just a few mph slower than a 400ex),it will also give alot more torque and acceleration.Be one bad bike with that kit. There used to be a few people on here with this kit.

Yes, Mickey at FST is the one you will buy the 330 kit from. Most of what you were saying you heard was prob. me in another thread not too long ago. GAFF had this kit and raced it MX and Arenacross. He did really well with it.

The top speed is hard to know for sure, it's gonna depend on gearing, terrain, ect. Top speed doesn't matter anyway in the trails.

Not sure on total price, depends on what you can do yourself, but I would expect $500-$600. Call Mickey and talk to him about it.

Another thing, yes, black smoke is fuel, NOT oil. You mentioned you were burning oil. How do you know? Are you having to add more to it? Sounds as though your jetting is off.

NEWDUCK,
What cam and piston did you put in your Lakota?

i ordered a 11 to 1 piston and a mid to top cam form mickey but you can also order them from web cams and save a little bit of money but im not sure if you will get as much performance out of it. if you were wondering why mine is a 345 and not a 330 is because the 330 pistons are on back order so i orderd a 345 but if have to split the case and bore it out to fit the sleeve in there. so if you have your own shop to do it in i would get the 345 but if not the 330 is more bang for the buck

Yes i added some two days ago and i have not riden that much since then so it has not gone down any but yes it went down between the 2 line on the window on the side of the motor and i added some so it's at the top line again. It really takes a long time for it to go down that much becasue i ride a lot and this is the only time i had to added some since i had the pipe which i got back in the beginning of Aug. So it's not like i burning a ton of oil like my rings are shot.
