Need some help,was out riding today and noticed a low speed miss,(i can feel a popping noise coming out of the breather)anyone else have this problem?

 

Yjup, lots of BF owners have or have had this problem. Apparently, the issue is that the BF runs real lean from the factory and the popping is a fuel-starved condition. Once the throttle is open it goes away because the fule is flowing well at that point. Here a couple of suggestions:

1. The Pilot Screw on the carb can be adjusted to richen the low RPM mixture which could help.
2. Change front carb needles which involves Kawasaki and I called them and didn't get anywhere.

I'm fighting this right now with my dealer, he had to pay for the needle jet, and now he wants to wait until the backordered recalled a-arm bolt comes in to do both at the same time. I really yelled loud to get him to pay for it and I'm about to yell again to fix it now.

 

Took me about 15 min to change to the nfkl needle you dont even have to take the airbox off to do it,very simple and It cured the low speed miss and seems to run stronger.

 

Where did you buy the needle & how do you change it?

 

You can have your dealer get you one free,a fellow member(neckbone) on h/L sent me his and the install was easy with out removing any plastic,look under the left hand side sittin on the machine and you can see the carb,take the black cap off of it and carefully pull the plunger diaphram out and the slide will come out,change needles and reassemble and your done,sure beats going to the dealer.

 

I have this problem too. Does anybody have the part number for the new needle jet?

 

Its a NFKL needle, it shoud ring a bell with you dealer. Its the same needle thats in the rear carb. Fixed mine.
