My '92 trail boss tends to backfire after i let off the gas froma higher rpm. The wierd thing is that it only will do it in high. I bought a new spark plug today hoping that it might solve the problem. Another reason why it does this might be because where the exhaust meets, there is a little gap inbetween the two pipes. If anyone has had this problem or knows how I can fix it, please post a message. Thanks

Check your throttle cable and freeplay . It is very likely that the sending units think the throttle is stuck .

Rick is the man. My '93 did exactly the same thing. It was the throttle cable adjustment.

 

I have a similar backfire problem on my 2004 trailboss. It has started backfiring when you let off the gas abruptly. Any pointers on throttle cable adjustment? Thanks
