rubicon tires
#2
I've had 26" mudlites on a rancher, so I'd say at least that. I think you may be able to squeeze some 27's under there with no rubbing or suspension issues depending on tread depth and tire width. A set of offset rims helps a lot as well.

my friend has 27" mudlites on his and his has a lift kit.
and i have 26" mudlites and a lift kit on mine.
even with the lift kit you wont be able to go bigger then 27s or they will rub the fenders.
the lift kit was $80 cdn so maybe 50 us dollers.
and its well worth it.
check out my page its got some pics of it with the lift kit and tires on it.

my honda is no differant in the handleing department then it was stock.
actully i think its more stable then befor i put the liftkit and tires on it.
because the tires are wider and so is the wheelbase.
and i asked alot of people about the liftkit befor i bought it and the only ones that had any problems with ujoints was the guys who had irs not sra.
and ive put over a 1000 miles on it since i put it in and seems fine.
no problem with it yet.
