02 Grizzly 660 starts and then dies
#1
I am having issues with my Grizzly! It only has around 15 hours on it, or less. I have loved it up until now. It starts and then dies, and for the most part it will only do this with the help of starter fluid. I have taken the carb off and cleaned it thoroughly. Spark is good. Battery is good. My question is, when you remove the drain tube at the bottom of the carburetor, should fuel drain out? I am wondering if it is a problem with the float bowl, although it seems to be operating properly. This is very frustrating! Has anyone else had this problem? Thanks.

Take it to a dealer or find someone that can put a new needle valve in it. Had this happen 3 xs to my brand new grizzly, argued with dealer all three times.finally told him he best figure the problem out. Never happened again.
Dealer was telling me it was the gas I was putting in (Amoco Premium???). Pretty good gas if you ask me with a quick tank turnaround. Anyways I got to talking to a another dealer and they told me that the needle valve is to fitted too tight and that they usually have to hone the valve alittle before installing the needle valve back in. Something like that.

Thanks for the replies. It is running now and seems great, just needed a thorough cleaning of the carb, fresh new gas, and a new spark plug. Somehow the combination of all three fixed the problem. I did not want to take it to any dealer as they probably would not know any more than my husband does. Thanks.

Hey Susie,
Please check with your husband and see what jet he is running for the Cache Valley altitude. I ride quite a bit in American Fork Canyon and I am having trouble jetting my Grizzly for altitudes above 7500 feet. Any help would be greatly appreciated... (currently running 147.5 main jet and needle clip in center position.)
