Yamoto Black Box!
#1
Does any one know what the little black box with the cooling fins located under the left rear fender
is for. I have seen them on four wheelers before. Just don't know what it is.

Without showing us a picture, it's hard to ask us to guess. If I had one guess, it's probably your unit's "RECTIFIER,REGULATOR". If I had a second guess, it would be its CDI unit.
To confirm which part, surf "black box" pictures on page 56 within:

Note: Does you unit come with a manual? If it does, your manual should have an electrical diagram to help narrow down which part it really is.
Hope this helps....

My wife often says she's going to RECTIFIER me. Don't know what that means on my body but it sounds very painful. If wondering, she already regulates me... lol!!!
In layman's terms..... It is a sealed box that receives input from the battery and receives electrical output from your stator system. It balances & evens out your electrical system (so your lights don't dim up & down when you rev the RPMs) and if needed, charges your battery. If your battery doesn't need to be charged, then it discharges the surplus electrical outputs from your system. This discharge is usually in the form of heat - thus the reason for heat fins on the box. Note: It's much, much more complex then this. Bottom line is.... It's one of these boxes one needs in autos, motocycles, snowmobiles, etc. etc.
For a simple picture, surf: http://chblock.com/dualsport/lightin...r/wiring1.html
Hope this helps...
