On the bomber do both sparkplugs fire at the same time or does one fire on the slap stroke ?

 

same time. there is only one wire from the cdi, it tees and goes to both coils.

 

Thanks Hightower. I was not sure if it was possible to mix up the plug wires or not.

 

since both wires are tee'd into the coil, would it be very noticable if one of your plugs fouled?

 

there are two coils - one for each plug. a single ignition wire from the cdi box supplies both coils, and each coil has its own plug wire going to its plug. you can switch the plug wires and nothing will change. you can even leave one of them unplugged and not even notice it riding. two plugs makes for a more efficient and thorough burn, and perhaps a slight hp advantage may be noticable on the dyno, but two plugs are not necesary. they do offer a nice reliability advantage, like if you lose one coil or plug from a nasty water crossing or something, you're still racing.

true if one fouls and the other doesn't it probably would not be noticable, but whatever fouls one plug is bound to foul the other.

 

the reason i was asking was that i noticed yesterday while i was jetting my carb that one of my plug wires sets on my plug but doesnt snap on it like my other on does....interesting thought about the back up tho...

 

The "does not snap on" thing happened to me also. Get a new one, the wire that makes the spring has broken.

 

well i couldnt help myself... i went outside and tested the one plug theory...running on one plug i could deffently tell a difference in the way she idled...not much but if i had my eyes closed and u pulled a wire u could be able to tell it...but it basically ran the same. i thought i could tell a difference at first but its one of those things that u know u unplugged it, so u are looking for anything different to blame on the plugs...lol.
