you can. IMO, they might rip out of the rear tires. a regular stud has a flange on the bottom part that goes in the bottom of the hole to hold it in. also, the rounded head of a screw might not provide as much traction as a regular stud. I have never tried screws. so it might be ok. make sure they are not to long! some tire shops still have old studing machines and might stud your tires. then you can just dig them out after the season.

You can use them, but they will probably rip out as soon as your wheels spin and then it will be even more difficult to get ice screws to stay in. Ice screws have much corser threads than sheet metal screws.

I have used them to fix flats while on the trail before...........matter of fact, my son's badger has had the same screw (Holding air) the entire season.
Just saw it yesterday.

Be carefull of 'green slime' type products. They are known to be corrosive to aluminum wheels. You may not get a flat from leaking tires, but a flat tire will eventually be the result of holes that will appear in your wheels.

the gold diggers we use for ice racing look like sheet metal type screws, but are made for ice . we run them all the way through to tire!! we do not use slim or any other type of liner, one thing you have to make sure of is that you don't over spin the screws when they are all the way in, this will round out the rubber and cause a leak. we run the screws in with a drill 3/4 of the way and then titen the rest with a wrench. also don't run them acrcoss gravel or black top with will dull them and it will feel like you have no screws at all.

i have a set of studded tires for sale!! (they have never touched anything besides ice or plywood) fronts are on rims and the rear are studded w/out rims. aprox 1500 screws total in all 4 tires. pm me.

I spent many years pumping that slime into atv tires when I work in that business. IMO its a waste of time and money. as soon as you stop riding, it settles to the bottom of the tire, and you have a flat again. your good to go as long as you keep riding. not to mention the mess that the tire guy gets when he changes your tires. for those old 2 peice wheels with the oring in the middle. put in a tube. if you have a hole in your atv tire. use rubber plugs or those sticky brown plugs. and cut them off flush with the tire tread. if they leak after a while. pull them out and put in a new one. other than that, I would just replace the tire if it could not be fixed with a plug. the casings are just to thin to mess with.
