offroad mini buggy/ cart purchase help!!
#1
I want to buy a mini cart buggy like the kasea, or one of the other cheaper brands I have been reading about on this forum.. What I am really looking for is one that is going to be good off the line and have a good top speed. 50mph would be great. I am 36 years old and would really want a pilot or 350 oddy, but just cant fork over that kind of money. I am looking toward a 250 model because they will get me more power. Any suggestions from you all would be great. I would hate to get one and have it be too slow. I will be using it mostly for sand dunes and dirt riding. I love to rip up hills and jump the things. Also, would need leaner jets being that I will be running it at and altitude of about 9000 feet. Thanks for your help!!!!!!!!!! I would like to spend 2500 at the max, but of course would prefer spending less.!!

The chinese carts have good geometry and decent suspension but there is no chance of them getting to 50mph at that price point without taking the engine out of a single seater and replacing it with something else. The people that do this do seem to get a good running machine, but often loose reverse as a result. That may or may not be
and issue for you.
Out of the box most of the off road carts are doing 31 to 36 mph at best within your price point.
The Carter XTV is faster than the chinese carts, but I don't have an actual measurement to give you yet. I've seen claims of 45 mph, but we all know what is published doesn't exactly equal real world results in these things.

Steve, thank you for the info. That is what I needed to make a decision. I see claims of 45+mph on some carts, but see videos of them and they are not even close to it. I should NEVER have sold my 350 honda oddysey 10 years ago. I am kicking myself in the head right now. Here is the worst of it all. I sold it for 1500 bucks and that included a trailer!!!!!! What an idiot. But at the time it was a deal for me because I bought the complete setup from a farm mechanic that had no idea what it was. He got it from a guy who could not afford to pay his mechanic bill.

Those old Hondas look great. Man, wish I knew you when you were selling it! hehe

to these things. Seems it's been a good performance upgrade for him.

Bearer of bad news here. Since I'm an avid duner, and have seen and used these buggies there. I can tell you that none of them are gonna meet your requirements. Even the 250 karts are not fully dunable at Glamis(which is near sea level). If you're looking for Odyssey or Pilot power, you're gonna have to buy one of them. And even those two are gonna barely cut it at 9000 feet.

Thanks for all the usefull info. You have pretty much saved me from making a purchasing mistake. When I had my oddyssey 350, I used to run it at about 11,000 feet!!!! Just had to lean it out with the jets and it ran dang good. When we go to high altitude, just need to put in diff jets and it works good. I don't have the money to spew on an oddy or pilot, so I will probably just continue to borrow my buddies quad.
