Default used 03 kfx400 or new 04 400ex??

im getting ready to buy a new quad. should i go with a brand new 04 hondoo 400ex or a used kfx400? it says that the kfx is in perfect condition in the ad. but you cant always belive what things say. should i risk buying somebody elses problems or go with a new 400ex? the kfx is $4000. the honda isnt a lot more. i know the kfx is a bit faster and have reverse and liquid cooling, but i would really like to have a new quad, and i dont have the money for a brand new kfx or Z....

also, if or when i go to look at the kfx, what are some important or main areas i should look at for condition, abuse or w/e? Also how likely would it be for me to get one of the bad 03 frames on the quad? i heard there were a bunch of the Z that had frame cracking problems on the 03 modles, or is it just the Z's and not the kfx's?

rust, tire wear, check the air filter, and oil, see ifits been cleaned... ride it of course. make sure clutch and breaks work well, ceck for repair marks, or scrapes in platics,,, And fluid levels, all signs of good or poor maintenence

The new KFX are suppose to be the same price as the new hondas, beacuse honda added reverse and new plastic, so they raised he prize up a bit. But the KFX is a better quad in every thing I say.

If you're thinking of a KFX, I would seriously consider a new one ('05 model) , or the Suzuki Z400 (same quad as I'm sure you know). The upgrades on the new 2005 Z400 are worth the investment.
I know money may be an issue, but if you can, I would consider the '05. Do some reading up on them.

The new 400ex is also a good quad.

Have Fun

If the KFX is absolutley like new then it may not be bad but it is still kinda risky. If it were an 04 KFX I'd say go for it for sure..................but theres nothing like a brand new machine. I bought my 04 EX mainly cause of price but if I could do it again...............I'd STILL buy my 04 EX just for the price alone.
