#1
Hello. A guy that owns a 1986 Honda 250R with a lot of upgrades on it wantes to trade me for my 1997 Kawasaki Bayou 300 4x4 with a plow. The only thing is that he wants $1000 cash with it as well. Here are the upgrades on it. Let me know if it is a fair trade with the $1000 cash added or if I should go lower.
Modifications:
Rebuilt top and bottom (resleeved polished jug/hot rod kit)
New swingarm bolt and bearings
RPM carrier with new twin row bearings
Leager A-arms + 2" new tie rod ends
Leager anitvibe steering stem
Works triple rate front shocks (valved at 175 lbs) with cans
Durable eliminator axle + 4"
14 tooth front steel sprocket
37 tooth rear aluminum rear sprocket
Black plastics
Purple seat cover/purple frame
New fast trekker rear tires
FMF pipe and silencer
Problems:
Slight crack in throttle housing
Faulty fuel petcock - gas drips out of overflow tube when sitting

If it we're me, I'd go for it. Test ride it first though. Make sure the tranny shifts smoothly, make sure the engine doesn't make any odd noises, check bearings in a arms, swingarm, axle, steering stem, etc. If it seems all good, go for it. 250rs are very fun. Very fast too. You'll be making a good choice.

BTW, my old 250r had the same problem with the petcock shutoff valve. So what I did for an easy fix was went to an auto parts store and bought a new piece of tube and a regular small shutoff valve. Cut the tube in half, stuck it on the side of the old petcock, put the new shutoff valve on the end of the line, then put the other piece of tube from the new petcock to the carb, and I was all set.

After looking at the quad more closely in person, I saw that it needed all new bearings, a new chain, and the swingarm was cracked as well. What I'm just going to do now is buy a brand new Suzuki Vinson 500 w/a 3000lb Warn winch, 60 in Cycle Country plow, HMF exhaust, K and N filter, and jet kit, just because I can get all of that on it for $5750. Pretty good deal ehh?

GET THE 250R, VERY AWESOME QUAD, FAST AS HELL, also 2 stroke so be prepared to spend some money fixing it now and then, but still 250r (in my opinion) is the best quad ever...

Good news! The guy that I was originally going to trade with has a friend that has a 2000 Honda 400ex with +2 A-arms, +4 axle, and Performance Shocks in the front, and he is interested in an even up trade for my bayou. Absolutely a good trade. Right?

yes, also a good trade, 250r would be better, but go ahead and go with the 400ex because this way u wont have to worry about that $1000 that the guy wants along with the trade, and u dont have to worry about rebuilding the motor everyonce in awhile
