Somewhere on here someone said Mobil One should not be used on auto or wet clutch such as on the Kodiak or Grizzly. On there site it says about using MX4t 10-40 " Optimized wet-clutch performance"

I here a lot about this Mobil one red cap but cant seem to find anything about it. So someone tell me that I'm reading this right and it's ok to use it in my Kodiak. I dont have a squeakie brake problem anymore. thanks

 

OK, what I really need is for someone to tell me if a "AUTOMATIC CENTRIFUGAL CLUTCH" is the same as a "WET CLUTCH"[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-confused.gif[/img]

All Quads that I know of use a wet clutch. There are only a few motorcycles that use a dry clutch and they are made in Europe. If you were to remove your clutch cover you would see your engine oil bathing your clutch and your transmission. Some oils for new cars contain Molybdenum which in theory can cause your clutch to slip. I personally have never read where this has occurred, but like most people I error on the side of caution and don't use any oils which state that they are energy conserving in the API label. I know people that use the 0-30wt synthetic auto oils in their quads during the winter months. I am waiting to hear of a clutch problem, but so far they have gotten away with it. I have been running Mobil 1 Red cap for a couple of years now and it seems to work well.

AUTOMATIC CENTRIFUGAL CLUTCH
Does not have to be a wet clutch. Mini bikes and chain saws use automatic centrifugal clutches and they are dry clutches.

Most sport quads do not use an automatic centrifugal clutch, but they all have wet clutches.

 

You can use Amsoil 0w-40 Four Stroke oil. It contains no friction modifiers and is safe in your wet clutch or any other clutch. I only use Amsoil in my truck, my wifes car, both four wheelers and my mower. I have never had a problem with it.

 

I'm with sbbowhunter, Amsoil 0W40 4 stroke motor oil. Awesome stuff. Basically what you need to look for in any oil you put in a wet clutch/engine is a JASO MA rating. If it doesn't have it, don't run it.

 

OK, thanks for all the replys. So I looked on Mobil one site and the MX4T spec's say it has a JASO MA
rating and has no friction modifiers and is designed for proper frictional characteristics necessary for wet-clutch systems. So since I cant find any amsoil localy it's Mobil one MX4T. I used Mobil-1 in the 450 Kodiak and experienced flawless performance.
