Default Tire studs in a Blaster?

My brother in law bought 2 Blasters for my sister and himself. He wants to ride them on our lake this winter. Since I have 4wd, I suggested he get tire studs. He kinda dropped the project onto me since he does not know too much about atv's. My question is does anyone have and recomendations on how may per tire and what length we should get. Or is he better off getting chains for the tires? He wants to ride and may ride with minimal snow cover also.

Well kold kutters are what you want to put into the tire. The length depends on the tire you are using and how much tread is left on them, but you should be able to get away with 1/2 inch if the tires are relatively intact.

Any riding off of ice and snow will tear up studs very quicky and running through dirt isnt good for them either.

The lug height is only 7/16. I noticed those are the shortest studs I can find. They should be ok then right?

We just studded my son's and his friends blaster with actual car stds. We had to buy the gun and etc. but they work awsome. We went with two per lug on the rear and about one per lug on the front. They keep up to our scramblers now.
