Default 05 Grizzly support needed!

Hey guys,

I just put a drop in K&N filter in the grizz and am wondering if any of you have the jet kit installed with this filter. Is it worth the money? How about the clutch kit, any feedback would be great! How about the newer FMF silencer? I have seen on ebay a silencer cap to open up the silencer to 2" instead of the tiny opening of the stock one. Has anyone tried this or heard about it? I have 26" mudlites and I can definately notice the power loss, so I am looking to pep it back up. I have a bud that owns the arctic cat 650 and his low end power is way more than a grizz even with stock tires since they come with 26's from stock. I cannot be overtaken by a cat...Help guys..Thanks!

some people jet it after putting in the k&n and others don't...different exhaust and a clutch kit along with rejetting it will greatly improve the power of your Grizz...i haven't modded mine yet but i know how much it will help...especially the clutch kit...if you want to add aftermarket exhaust i would advise you to re-jet it after you have done everything you want to it performance wise...i've heard and read about the stock exhaust mod you are talking about and from what i've read it's done some improvement...like i said though i would not re-jet it until you have done exhaust and intake mods because in order to re-jet it you hafta take the gas tank off cause the carb is tucked in there nice and snug...good luck!

HMF pipe, k&n filter and jet make a good noticeable difference. You would trounce a stock grizz with it. As for the downside, it is loud as a sumbitch. If you don't want the blaring racket, don't do it. I don't mind it myself. Those riding behind me would beg to differ.

hey grizzlygoat if you do these mods and come back and tell us you got beat by the artic cat again you will be barred from posting on yamaha forums 4-ever ..lol just kinding...The ac is heavier and shouldnt have that much pull unless it's hooked up really nice...I have an 02grizz and did the k-n and rejet with a hmf and I'm pullin real hard off the line.Haven't look at the clutch kit yet because I am running tires of a rhino(little beefier than stock)Might go with some mudlites in the spring..Yeah get that hmf either the full system or slip-on..I'm planning on getting the header in the next few weeks..Kick azz on that grizz and smoke that Ac and anything else that gets in your way..

Thank you all for your input. I only have the K&N filter and just put the jet kit in last night..what a pain in the a**. According to dynojet im supposed to use the 150 main jet, but the stock one is 155. Will this be too lean with the new filter?

Thanks!

that doesnt sound right with the hmf slip-on i'm using a 155 jet unless they changed something. If anything you should be at a 155 or higher not lower..Imo...Call dynojet and make sure the techs will tell or the dealer(sometimes they know something)

Dynojet was giving you the size of their jet, not Yamaha's. Dynojet uses a different numbering system so people don't buy one jet kit and tell all their friends what was in it.

yeah, without a pipe, you will be using a bit smaller jet. And he is right about the differences in Mikuni jets and Dynojets. Their numbering is different.
