Is This A Smart Thing For a Dealer To Do?

do you know what a jump box is? it's usually blue or red. when a car/truck has a dead battery, you hook-up the cables and jump start the dead vehicle.
my local dealer uses this 'jumper box' to start the new ATVs exclusively. they don't hook up the ATV battery at all. they just hook the jumper directly to the cables, start the ATV, drive it from the shop to the showroom, let it idle while they jockey it into place, then shut off the ATV and disconnect it.
will this 'over boost' the sensitive electronics or damage the charging system? keep in mind this jumper box is used on car's with a dead battery to get 'em started and into the shop.
what do YOU think?

12 volts is 12 volts. I can see where it would matter. The battery in the jumper is about the same size as a wheeler battery anyway. I think the problem would be if the battery became disconnected after it is running and the voltage from the regulator went high because of no battery load. I have heard of older Polaris wheelers where it would blow all the lamps out that were turned on if this happened. But to answer your question, the size of the battery make no differance as long as it has the current required to turn the starter.

Not sure but it dont sound good to me.

It could damage the system if the amperage is TOO high for the charging system like running it with a 50 amp boost.but 2-10 amps shouldnt hurt anything.
