Depends a lot on the type of racing.

 

pretty much all around riding mostly trails and mx

 

The raptor is not a racing machine. If you were stricktly riding trails, I'd say go for it but the 400 class machines have the best HP to traction ratio and not too heavy for MX.
Either of the other machines mentioned is a good choice.

 

the raptor has incredible power but the 400s are a better choice for racing. the Z400 is a little better IMO.

 

I would say the 400's for track racing, the raptor;s staiblity isn't that good, and its just to heavy and doesn't rev as fast as the 400. I'm talking about the kawisukicat not the honda 400ex. The EX is just outdated and is aircooled.

 

well from what i have seen the raptor beats them in a race but in the woods the z400 will take them both out of them i like the raptor its fast and has a lot of power

 

IMO the rap is better i race mine and do well against the 450s locally
the z is just a smaller rap it also (like rap) needs alot of $ to compete
with the 450s on the track

personally i would go for the Z. I say that because my boyfriend has one and it is VERY reliable and beats his friends 400ex everytime. I have heard that the raptors are very fast and have a lot of snap, but they have been known to fall apart and have things break often. Another thing about the Z's is that they are very comfortable. O, and the EX's, i dont know if its just alans, but the clutch and the throttle seem alot harder to push then a Z's. but, this is all IMO, so test them all out and see what you think![img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img] ~*Melinda Rae*~

 

yeah stick with the two 400s. i think id get the z though for the same price
