Question for Traxter owners
#1
I'm thinking of getting a Traxter 500 w/ the 5 sp auto shift tranny. I'm curious on how the tranny feels when it shifts, both up and down. Is it pretty positive and harsh or kinda mushy? Any other likes/dislikes worth mentioning? Thanks.

This thing has a gear to gear tranny so it has very very, firm shifts. It shifts and sounds like a Harley when going into gear.
Dislikes- It has a VERY harsh ride. It can be fixed with a suspention kit if you like. The foot thick seat makes up for a lot of it though. Cost.
Likes- EVERYTHING else. If you work on this thing a lot you will really really like the stepthrough. The Visco lock is second to none in a 4X system.
It is a good to great trail quad but if you ride aggressively and fast this is not the quad to buy. It will climb a tree if you let it, but without a 2X-4X switch it is not a quad that you can get crazy on. The very low CG helps a lot also.
In short, if you are going to work or slow to medium speed trail ride this is the only quad to get. If are wanting to get all sideway and jump and do WOT trail riding and all of that there are much better quads to buy.

Thanks for the reply. I should have mentioned how I intended to use it. I'm looking at one for light farm work and to take deer hunting. I won't be doing any fast trail riding, jumping it, or running it WOT. I'm more interested in how reliable one is rather than it being a sporty handling ride.

my uncle has one for his farm, its got about 1500 trouble free miles on it now, i think about 1/3 of those are from my brother and i, lol, its a great workhorse, pulls empty grain wagons like it not even there, 4 wheel drive system works great you can load up the back rack with a lot and it barely sinks down, i think it'd be a great for you
