New plow and winch on the 05 SP500
#1
I put on the winch (Cabelas model super winch 2300) and the plow (Glacier 48 in) on my 05 SP500. Since the polaris is wired for the Warn set up I had to do a little modification to the wiring. Had to put new terminals on the factory wiring for the pos and neg. It had this two wire modular plug on it from the factory. With the superwinch contactor, the terminals are not in the same position as the Warn/Polaris set up. The superwinch contactor is a little taller so there is some clearance issue when using the stock splash guard mounting position under the right front fender. I did all the installation in an 8 X 12 shed in single digit temps with a small propane heater. The temps made for an interesting day of fun filled tinkering. I did get to push the snow that had fallen (6 inches of new stuff) so it was alot of fun. The plow set up and winch worked great. Good thing because weatherman says 5 to 10 inches by sunday AM. Hope everyone has a safe and happy New Years.

Glad you got it installed....I would have left the factory cables and used the ones that came with the Cabela's winch, that way if you ever switched or whatever than the other cables were there to use. I spent the money and bought the Polaris/Warn 3.0ci winch setup....easier that way....extra $, but worth it to me.....well at least it made it easier...
have fun plowing, I'm waiting to get some snow in the city here, snows like hell in the mountains and barely a dusting here in the city....good thing though, people can't drive for $hit when it rains here, much less driving in the snow...

I thought of leaving the factory set up alone, but I figured the less extra wiring is floating around, the less chance of electrical problems in the future plus I can still use the wiring that was under the pod if I do end up going with a warn. I definately know how it is in NM. Spent some time at the Air Force Base some years ago. Used to ride my harley up to the top. That thing was sucking for air as I got to the top. I miss the Sandia Mountains as it is flat as a pancake up here. Did some mountain biking while I was there. I should get a chance to get back there this summer. You'll have to give me some good places to ride up there. Thanks for your help.

Get hold of me if you come out, we can go ride. I go all over the place, love riding here. Can go from pure desert to high tree'd mountains....gotta love it.
