No grease fittings
#1
Anybody out there got enough miles on their 2004 Sportsman to judge if it was a good idea to abandon the grease fittings for the new bushings? I kinda like grease fittings being a truck driver/ equipment operator. My dealer keeps telling me to just ride it! They say the new Polaris's are bullitproof.
Also any opinions on the engine coolant and oil tank heaters. I plow with my 500H.O. and was wondering if they would be a good idea? My dealer's mechanic doesn't figure their benefits outway the cost. (almost $90.00 ea. Candian for the Pure Polaris ones)
Thanks.

They still have 3 fittings or so, with that being said, my 03 600 only had 3 fittings and after 1200 miles, I never had a problem............but I am like you, I would like to be able to grease these machines.......

well i havent had any bad bushings yet, my riding buddies and i have put any where between 1600 and 2100 miles on our EFI 04's. I can tell you one thing it sure does creek and crack down the trail...and squeek when you turn the bars, i know if there were zerks wed be able to fix the squeeks.
I use blaster or WD40 every were i can spray it, and it works for a while...just not like grease were you can pump the moisture out.
It just scares me, all the mud and snow and water ive been through on this thing and theres no zerks, goes against everything i been taught ahahha lol...
But the dealer just says RIDE IT.
But if i have bushings go bad, i am going to drill and tap and put em in if i can.
Later all

Hello Primus. That is an excellent question about zerks that I too wonder about. I noticed that my manual says to periodically "lubricate all pivots". So I have been doing what hvydty2500 does. That is, I spray WD40 on everything including the bushings. I would like to hear some other opinions.
