Snowthrowers for ATV's
#1
I was wondering if anyone knew if they build a snowthrower that would work on a 01 Arctic Cat 500 Auto, or a 01 Yamaha Kodiak Auto? I see that Polaris has one for $3000, and it has a seperate motor in back of the Quad. I think it was a 12 h.p. Briggs and Stratton. And I talked to a salesman at the Honda dealer and he told me they knew of one that sells for around $1500 dollars?

Buy a separate snow thrower. 1) They are much cheaper. 2) You won't have to assemble it every fall and dismantle it every summer.
I bought a brand new TroyBilt 8hp with a 26" path and it clears my 110'X35' driveway in about 15 minutes with 6-8" of snow.

Hiofcer, my girlfriend has a John Deere TRS 22 or 24 snowthrower, which I used to use in front of the garage, problem is our driveway is up a small hill, and is roughly 470 feet long! So I am leaning toward a Moose county plow, probably the 50" blade, when I buy my first 4 wheeler.

I think the Moose plow is the best way to go. 470' is quite a distance to go with a snow thrower! You'd get your exercise though! I think Moose makes about the best plow out there. Though, with whatever quad you buy, I might suggest going with the 60" instead of the 50". I say this because when you have the blade tilted to the side to push the snow, depending on the depth of the snow, the 50" blade will tend to let the snow fall back into your tire path, which you will then run over. As a result, you'll end up with tracks left over that you'll have to plow over again. The 60" is wide enough that when tilted, it keeps the snow from falling back into your tracks. Hope that makes sense.
Good luck with your decision!

Cowboy, thanks for your advice, yes that does make sense. I myself a have narrowed down my choice of getting the 2001 AC500 auto or the 2001 Yamaha Kodiak. My brother, Mike, has the 2000 Kodiak and he really likes it, and told me he would recommend it to anyone. For 2001 they added a speedometer, tripmeter to it. But I still have plenty time to make my decision, as I have a few other bills to clear up, and then I will start saving up for my Quad, and accessories! I might have to wait till spring! Bummer! But I am glad their is a forum like this, because it is nice to hear from other people about their experiences and preferences. When I get the plow for whichever one I choose, I will definitely have a Warn winch above it. Thanks again. Talk to you again. Hammer4
