Default Why are 3-Wheelers Taboo?

I've read on several websites that 3-Wheelers aren't welcome at many off-road trails. Can someone please tell me why 3-Wheelers are taboo to trail/park owners?

Thanks,
James

Quad owners don't like getting smoked by 25 year old trikes!

3 wheelers almost sank the sport in the 80's due to stability problems. I personally owned an 85 Tecate 3.

there are park systems that still think three wheelers are a liability. Its just fallout from the law suit days of old.

crappy 4 wheelers are just getting as fast as some of the better trikes were in 86, I also have noticed an increase in news storieds about them being dangerous.

If you just spent 5 grand on a bike - and this guy on a 20 yr. old machine comes up next to you - and roosts your a$$... You'd be pretty pissed too..

My dad's rig has a bumper sticker I remember from the 80's "If the outlaw 3 wheelers - only outlaws will own three wheelers".. It was right next to a "3 wheelin' is a good feelin'" sticker.

My .02 cents..

it's because quad riders are jealous they don't have the skill needed to stay on an 3-wheeler, hahahaha i don't know what that makes me because i own both a quad and a 3-wheeler and i can stay on either one, front wheeles or wheel in the air or not.

To be frank - I sorta like it Taboo.
Its always neat when I'm the only one with a trike.. [besides my son on his ATC 70] (This never happens in the sand - but often times elsewhere)

People always ask questions - Like how long have you owned it? What about the ban? Are those legal?....
(Then I reply - and they almost always get a shock when I tell them its been around for almost 20 years!)

When I bust out my official Honda ATC250R owner card - (Do they still give those out?) Its cool..

But it would be ultra cool for SOMEBODY to make a 2006 ATC... With a 2006 CR250r motor and 2006 frame/suspension...

I'm dreaming again...

Another $.02

They would be more unstable on those well used rutted trails. Think of the geometry.....rear two wheels in the ground 4 inches from all the quad ruts....and that balloon front tire riding high on the hump of the center. Add to it the fact that any type of rear suspension on them is non existant on some other than soft tires and you've got a disaster in the making. Ya gotta remember....they stopped making them because so many people got injured on them in the first place. I remember a time when everyone I knew who had one had broken their collarbone at one time or another with them. They're a ball o the frozen lake though....
