Default problems with shifting

I have a new artic cat 400. When I try to shift from nuetral to drive to nuetral to reverse it seems to stick and be hard to shift. Any suggestions on how to fix this problem?

I would try adjusting your linkage, they probably didnt take care of it correctly at the dealer.

I am having same issue with my 2005 400 4x4 man shift. The quad does not like to go back to normal forward Hi from reverse. I asked dealer and he told me it is part of the break in period....not sure if this is true.

Same here, but if I give it a little gas it moves really good. I do notice it getting better as the ATV ages!

My 04 500 did the exact same thing and yes it did go away after a few hundred miles. I have 700+ on it now and it shifts as smooth as silk. However if you have it on an incline or in a bind when you take it out of gear I have had to rock the quad just a bit for it to go in. But it never clicks or sticks anymore.

I plowed again this morning. The idle is very low.

I was able to get it to get into gear by rocking it a bit when stopped. Just a pain for now. I hope after she is broke in this problem doesn't keep on happening.

Seems if I wait for a bit after stopped and then rocking a bit she pops into gear. Pain but it works.

I have the same problem at times. I was plowing snow the other day and my '02, 500i didn't shift into forward gear after I shifted from reverse to neutral. It has about 2400 miles on it now and it's always had this problem. It seems to be that the gear gets stuck in the wrong possition and it only needs to move just a hair to line up with the spline. I can tap the shifter 2-3 times and it goes into gear. It only happens after reverse and not all the time. I would say, it's not much of a problem as it is an inconvenience. does this sound like your situation?
