Default LT80 wont run

I just did some trading and ended up with a 99 LT80. It had been sitting for 6 months and it had a small hole in the carb bowl. I drained out the rotten gas and JB welded the carb bowl and tried to fire it up. nothing....nothing...then wamo! the thing fires off an immediatly roars up to full rpm's, then of course takes off across my shop! I grab the rerar grab bar and hit the kill switch. After a little investigating I realized that I put the carb slide in backwards so that is what is holding the throttle open. I turn the slide around and....nothing....it wont start. I take the carb apart again, and am happy to find that a little peice of garbage has plugged up the pilot jet. I put it back together and...wamo it starts and runs graeat. I run it around for 20 minutes and it idles and eccelerates good. I turn it off and let it cool down. An hour later I go hit the start button and...nothing....it wont start. No big deal. It probably just has some more garbage in the pilot jet. Wrong. I take the carb apart again and its spotless...as it should be....I have clened it 3 or 4 times now. Back to the basics. Do I have fuel? Yes, it has fuel comming out of the petcock and the carb bowl drain as well. Do I have spark? Yes, I have checked for spark several times and have checked and adjusted the gap per specs. So what now? The only thing on the carb that I have not messed with is the 3 little air holes on the intake side of the carb. Could one of them be plugged? Which one is drawing air when the engine is at idle?
Why did the thing start and run fine to begin with and then just not start an hour later. One last thing. When I pull the plug after I have been cranking it over for a bit it does have a little bit of fuel on it, but it isn't dripping. It seems like it is getting some fuel, just not enough. Any suggestions?

Those carbs are hard to clean try using air and blow that puppy out, if you still have problems try to get a hold of lt 80 on here, he is the godfather of lt 80's.

I've done that myself...but i grabed the handlebars and it swung around and slambed into my sheetrock in my garage. All I could do is laugh..See if you have oil in your resevoir if you still have one. It wont start if you dont have enough oil in it. just an idea

I don't mean to laugh about the throttle sticking thing. But it has happened to more then just you. My buddy bought a Brand new lt80. He asked me to make it go faster. I took the carb apart and took the sleeve out. I always check the throttle after I do this. But this time I was in a rush and didn't check it. We were in front of his garage door. There was the side door right beside it. I fired this puppy up and it went flying full speed thru the door. It took the whole door frame out and took 2 blocks with it. Went right over the door and smashed into the block wall, inside his basement. He thought it was rather funny and was laughing. I didn't think it was so funny.

When you took the carb apart was there fuel in the bowl? I suspect there was none, could be a stuck float. Try taking the fuel cap off and blowing in the tank to force fuel into the bowl. Try pulling the drain plug on the bottom of the carb, is there any gas? Sorry didn't read well enough, still would try the "pressurized fuel system" again. Bugs

Here is one that I did. My sons bike is modded up and was having trouble starting, so I left it alone for a bit and a friend stopped by to give me a hand with it. For some dumb no very dumb reason I decided to not slip on my shoes first. As we worked on it and finally got it to fire up my buddy, not realizing that the little lt is always in gear, decided to rap the throttle out a couple times my foot ended up getting in the way and my sons 18x9.5-8 fast trekers decided to try and get traction as they burnt off on the garage floor and across the top of my foot. Very painfull burn. I did that 2 summers ago and the burn mark still hasn't gone away. Isn't stupidity just grand

We were in Revelstoke a couple of years ago snowmobiling, one of the guys inthe group (newbie) decided to jet his modded 860cc motor. No one was paying attention to what he was doing. He ended up ????, somehow jamming the top of the carbs on with the slide in backwards, hanging up at 3/4 throttle. Well some of the guys pulled their ropes and headed up the trail.... sled ended up climbing the back of one of the guys up front vearing into the bush and hit a tree at about 70mph. No one was hurt, pure luck. Wrote off a $20,000 sled. Moral of the story .......,any time you work on the carb(s), CHECK THE THAT THROTTLE RETURNS PROPERLEY! Let me tell you it was some funny?? Savage try a new plug,if it is wet its probably fouled. Bugs.

My LT80 setup for about a year. It would hardly run. I took the carb apart 3 time to clean it. (but never used commpressed air) Then I bought a carb kit off ebay. When I put it in, it runs as good as new now. Might have been over kill, but it did the trick for mine.

EBAY LT80 CARB KIT

I don't think a new carb kit is overkill. I'm ready to buy a whole new carb!!!! Here is a new twist in the game. I barrowed a friends lt80 carb to see if it was just a carb issue. I install the new carb and....wamo it runs like a top. I change out the carbs and....still wont run on my carb. O.K. I switch the main and pilot jets and.... wamo it runs on my carb. Problem solved, right? Wrong. It will only run on my carb if it is allready warm up from running on the other carb!!! Keep in mind that all of this information is gained over 2 days and 2 rides home after I have let it cool down to much. The last thing that I am going to try before replacing it is a soak. I stuck it in some carb soak solution last night. Tonight I will put it all back together and give my old carb one last chance. I am allready thinking of making it into a bookend for some of my shop manuals.
