Default Another 700/800 comparison ?

Besides the size of the engine and the cost, are there any major differences between the 700efi and 800efi? I'm going to try and talk the wife into letting me get a new quad and I want to know if the $1000 (approximate) difference between the two is worth going to the 800? A lot of people will say "what's a grand when you're already paying that much?" To me it's a lot so I want to know of any major differences that will convince me to go with the 800. I will mainly be doing trail riding, playing in snow and mud, plowing, typical yard work; nothing too hard core. I have a 2-stroke right now which runs great but it really sucks when riding in the mountains and you need to re-jet all the time, plus I would like a better ride from the IRS.

Thanks for any input.

Everything is ecactly the same between the 2 except for the motor and dual exhaust. The 500ho is also a great motor. Not much difference in power between the ho and the 700. This can save even more money.

the difference between the 700 and the 800 are as followed:

800 uses a larger thicker belt, but is notorice (sp?) for breaking belts because of its massive torque, something to keep im mind.
800 is the 700 motor boared out with a longer stroke and a different head
Dual Exaust manifold
Dual Exausts
Cast aluminum beadlock rims
Bosch computer upgrade
larger radiator hoses

im pretty sure thats it, but there is monstorous difference between the 700 and the 800. the 500 motor is a 4 valve SOHC and will hold its own agaisnt the 700 dispite it being a twin piston. yet the 800 will kick the $hit out of the 700 and eat it alive. your best bet is to test drive them both and see which one you like better.

if you are doing nothing hardcore then I dont see the justification (spl??) of buying the 800...actually if you werent going into the mountains all the time I would say the 600 or even 500 would serve justice

I read that the belt and drive train are beefier. The motor is not bored out, but has a longer stroke.
The beadlock rims are imitation, but look great.
There are a couple of other differences, but can't think of them right now. Go to Polaris' web site and read the spec's.
Test driving them both would surely help in making your decision easier and the price difference for me was $600 cdn.
I am certainly happy with my decision.

Hope this helps.

The air intake on the 800 is higher as well. The 800 has MUCH more torque than the 700. For a extra $1000 the 800 is worth it, but the ? is do you need the extra power. The 700EFI will do everything the 800 will, it's just the 800 has a much better fun factor....

I couldn't agree more with the statement above. I will most likely upgrade to a 800 when the 2006 quads hit dealers...
