Do you really need the special Yamaha oil filter wrench?

I have no more than 3 hours on my Kodiak, so haven't changed the oil, or even opened the compartment yet. Do you really need their wrench, or can you get by with regular tools?
Thanks!

You"ll need a oil filter wrench for sure, just doesent have to be there's. I picked up one at a local auto parts store like auto zone.

And you dont need to buy the yamaha filter either.
Heres a site that has the cross reference numbers for filters. The wal mart super tech, is both highly rated and pretty cheap. Last time i checked, the dealer wanted 11 bucks for the yami filter.

When I take the filter off my Raptor, I just slip a towel over it and then slide the wrench over it. That way you don't have to buy a special small wrench.
