Here is a previous post from the dunes forum. It has a ton of good advice for riding in the dunes.

I get paddle tires for that trailblazer, even if you go only once. You can get them cheap in Waynoka, and if you don't go again you can always sell them on ebay. You can make it up most of the dunes with knobbies, but with paddles you can make it up all of them and have alot more fun. Do you race in the Hillbilly GP? I was wandering you said your a woods racer.

yeah, i ride the hillbilly, my 2nd year, what a great series, you been on the website? www.hillbillygp.com, im trailblazer over there, terrific bunch of guys, real competitive, but friends first, ya know... you ought to check out the site, who knows, maybe the trip from kansas isnt that far, come ride one. racing in warsaw this weekend, and the last race the sunday b4 valentines day, check it out...
thanks for the tips on the sand, i bought paddles last week, cheapie sand sharks, but i doubt i could tell the difference.... i keep telling myself i wont get addicted, but i think we all know better....
if anyone is gonna be at the dunes that weekend let me know, would like to meet some of ya....

I've seen the Hillbilly GP website, sounds fun. I might try the Valentines Massacre race. What type of terrain are these races. My whole family rides, maybe I can my dad to race to, if ain't rough. Is there alot Polaris's in the series. Hows that trailblazer do?

yeah, its rough, rocky, and extremely tight woods. the trail tech on my bike normally says an average between 12 to 18 mph through the whole course...tight woods, rocks, creeks, steep hill climbs some short burst down fireroads, ya never can tell, alittle of everything.get on the web site and check out the race results, im pretty proud... b4 2 races ago, i was sitting 3rd out of 30 some guys, been plagued with breakdowns in both of the last two, and i slipped to fifth overall.... but you gotta understand, that im a fat guy on the smallest bike in my class, not to mention the only automatic out there.... i remember the first race last year, i pull up to the line, didnt know a soul, and honestly the other riders snickering and glareing at me, ya know, youve heard it, about not riding a real quad, "wheres the clutch" only lawn tractors got fwd and rwd...... but i got to tell ya, nobody is making fun of me anymore, they cant believe how i can finish up at the top every race on a 3000.00 auto bike, ahead of their 6000.00 compd out z-400 or 400ex or whatever... the only thing that really allows me to finish so well is that the courses dont really allow you to go much past 3 gear, every track has got one or two sections where you can get through the gears and get up around 50 or 60 , but for the most part its all 20 to 30, my bike aint fast by any means, but it is fairly quick corner to corner, and im always in the right gear, you would be surprised to find out how many of these big bore guys can be caught asleep in the wrong gear starting a big hill climb or coming out of a sharp corner, i truely believe that is a huge advantage, i have smoked alot of bigger quads like that, and with the trail being so tight once your in front, you gotta work damn hard to make a pass to get around me, i dont care to win 1st overall, its not what i set out to do, i just set out to irriate all the die hard big bore guys and get in the middle of 'em like the "little tug that could" ya know, i call it fun....
anyway if ya think you can make it you should come, there is a racing class for all ages, even a supervised pee wee class with riders as young as 4 years old..
great time, make sure you can make it down on a saturday we all camp at the event sat. night, we would love to have ya...
