Default adding length to the axle on a Predator...good idea?

I was hoping to get an educated opinion from some of you who have tried this. I was looking through some catalogs and saw a few kits that allow you to extend the offset of your rear wheels. Has anyone done this? I liked the idea since it changed the bolt pattern to allow for a Honda 4 bolt pattern wheel to fit. This will really make a big difference for choosing wheels since there will be alot more available.

I guess I am more concerned about the possbile effects of having the wheels that wide, I understand that I should have better stability etc but what are the "cons"?

Also - anyone have any advice on lowering the Predator a little? I am thinking of going to an Elka rear shock but they do not make linkage etc for the predator so I am not sure that I will accomplish it that way. Comments on this one perhaps? Anyone?

I have not tried this but I do Know that widening the axel will give you better stability and lessen your chances of a roll over but it also lenghtens your turning radius. Its good if you want more stability in turning and on the jumps. I wouldnt do it to my scrambler though because i love tight turning radius'! Just my opinion

I don't have a predator but I did lower my 400 tbr about 4in and it helps alot going around a circle track!! I raised my shock mounts in the front and cut and welded the springs too I lost the long travel but I like!!

remember with a wider back end it might not fit in your truck or trailer if its too small... if u do anyother kind of riding besides track you may have some trouble fitting between obstacles

Bradracer18 has got the HPD spring kit, and he said it lowered it about 2 inches.

I know widening out the front end a couple inches on each side made my machine way too wide for the trails i was used to. You're riding a wide machine for stock a stock one. Super extreme will be about your only reason for widening. .02

Good info guys, thanks! I am really thinking about it and what I want to do more than widen it is to actually lower it a fraction. It is pretty wide already - you are all correct! I hae the Fox Air shocks up front and I love them so I think I will go with the Elka rear to make it handle a little better cause it is really spinning the rear now more than ever.
