banshee clutch rod and ball welding together, why??
#1
what causes this to happen, the ball looks like it was tack welded to the rod and the clutch arm (on the other end of the rod) has a mark on it also, looks like it got hot where the rod touches the arm, was just wondering if we did something wrong (low oil) or is this another one of those banshee things....

did you recently rebuild it? if so ive heard of this happening to a lot of banshees when there rebuilt and fired up for the first time! for that split second there is no oil in that area and it welds itself!

The reason it happend was because you were riding the clutch(making a descent probably), causing the rod and that ball to weld together. Make sure you get the update when you replace it, Its about $15 I think and it will never happen again. But it id not a good Ideal to ride the clutch like that anyway...

bad350twin - yes it was rebuild with new crank, new pistions, we broke it in according to the mechanic, ran fine for about day, the next day is when it happened
roostking - what update are you talking about, and i will caution my sons about riding the clutch

Same thing happend to My banshee after a Rebiuld. Not only did it do that but the other end of the red mushroomed over, so I had to split the cases to get it out! Make sure you pull the Clutch arm out and inspect it. If there is any wear on it replace it.

You need to buy the bearing to go between the clutch pressure plate and adjustment bolt. It's called a pancake bearing. They sell for about $50.It will solve this problem. It has nothing to do with riding the clutch or no oil.It is just kinda a bad design.I've seen hundreds of banshees do this and we run the bearing in all of our bikes from stock to full drag.
