I have a 1996 magnum 425cc 4X4 i brought it out ice fishing last weekend and it was extremely cold last weekend, so after two days of running out in that cold i put the bike in the garage,i went out there about 3 hours later and noticed i had a major oil leak? so after removing the skid plate from underneath i noticed there's a small (factory hole)
about 3/16ths in dia. located near the crankcase oil drain plug and sorta in and under the water pump area? oil pours out of there now??,now after looking at a scamatic of that it shows a mechanical seal inside of that i think its behind the water pump? is that hole like a weep hole for the seal if it go's bad? or is there a plug suppose to be in there? i have asked two dealers and no luck? thanks.[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-confused.gif[/img]

 

Well it looks like no one knows what this hole in the bottom of the case is about?

It is probably the weep hole for the water pump. You probably have a water pump that is shot. Check your coolant for oil. Could oil be leaking through the water pump and coming out the weep hole. Usually coolant will drip from the weep hole.

i guess thats a good possibility but i have not noticed any over heating or ever had a coolant leak,but the amount of oil that leaked out was alot for a short time in the garage,its more tha just a drip,but i will look for oil in the coolant.i have a digital pic of where this hole is on the bike but i don't know if i can post a pic here or not?
