White brothers E-series quiet core II
#1
Is anyone running the quiet core in their E-series. I just installed and E-series on my 500 HO and its louder than I would like. They say the quiet core reduces noise by 2-3 decibles. Does this make much of a difference?
Thanks

i have the first version of the quiet core. it does make a difference, but not much. its hardly worth the $35 the want for the damn thing.
also i noticed that the exhaust pipe gets WAY HOT! so hot, it ruined the e series logo on the side.

Haven't really tested it yet, I took it up the block did a pretty decent high range wheelie, I have to play with the carb a bit, it seemed to have dropped my idle a couple hundered RPM. I installed the dynojet kit the other day, definitly didn't hurt the power. I think I might be a little lean but still no backfireing on decelleration even with the pipe.
Today I am going to install the Primary and Secondary spring, dayco belt, thundershift clutch weights, uni filter and rejet the carb
I also ordered the Quiet core II this morning and it should be here tomorrow or the next day. Then all I have to do is install the dial a jet.
Braveops did you get your email yet?
Did Dennis Kirk charge you the gst and pst?

In order to slip the muffler on to the existing pipe you have to cut off the donut shoulder that is on the pipe. Take a look you'll see. You don't want to cut too much pipe off but you want enough to attach a coupling to it. I'll show you what it looks like when I get it built.
My jetting was 147.5 and I was on the 4th notch down on the needle. I went to the dynojet a couple of days ago and am still deciding where I want to be with that. When I put the Dial a jet on I will have to lean it out a little anyways, but I think I will get my jetting right before I put the dial a jet on and then when I install it I will just cut my jets back 2-3 sizes and lower the needle one more notch from that setting as per instructions. I think this will be less of a headache. The E-series has a nice cruising sound meaning if you hold a constant throtttle it sounds nice and mellow, it just when you crack the throttle and accelerate it really raps. Idle is pretty loud too, it has quite a POP the sound at idle.

if you pull on the choke when riding it can help to see if you are close if it takes off to lean if it bogs to rich this might help to get close. i dont want to ride on the edge but dont want to be to fat on the jetting either
