Snow day! and a few questions too
#1
Well I woke up this morning and there was about 12-14 inches of snow, a little more than the 4 they forecasted. But it was really cold out, so this snow was the dryest, powderiest snow i have ever seen. In the front field, it had drifted up, and was anywhere from 2-3 feet deep. But it was so light, i could drive right through it. It was an amazing experience, it was like driving a jetski. As you drove, there was like a bow wake as the snow sprayed to the sides, and going over bumps was like hitting waves as the snow sprayed over the front. I was amazed at how well the sportsman did in the deep stuff, some of it was literally over the front rack and it kept going, just plowing it ahead of me.
I also had some fun with the snowbanks. I got stuck a few times, but only once did i get stuck the point where i couldnt get out (which i guess is technically being stuck). I tried to break through a 7 foot snowbank, knowing i had no chance. I was stuck so bad that when i got off to hook up the winch the tires just kept turning at idle.
Anyway, i just wantedd to see if anyone had driven in deep really really light powder before. It was really an experience.

Actually i have a question now. WHile driving in the snow, my 400 was working really hard. Wheneven i stopped, it wouldnt want to idle, it would just stall. When i restarted it, it was ok again. Muffler and airbox werent clogged, and the radiator was somehow staying clear. I was running it hard though, i just about had the gas pegged the whole time. And it wasnt too cold today either, I never saw it go below 15. I was just thinking that it was working hard and after being floored (whatever) for that long it took a restart to get it to get used to idling again.
Another question: without a heated garage, how dangerous is it to have every crevice of the wheeler clogged with snow? I am worried about my cv boots; i poked out those areas as best i could, but theres still a good bit of snow in there. Any backing for my fear? Or are the boots strong enough to shove out the frozen snow next time i ride.
TIA Tyler

OK thanks. I'll change the plug when it gets a little warmer, I'll probably just foul it again before then if i do it now. Usually mine runs great in the cold, so I dont think its the jetting. Ive had it run great at -5, so I'm not gonna mess with that.

I'm guessing you are from maine? That is just what I got up to this morning! Had to play after work a little in it. Getting out early tomorrow to play more! I have about a foot of fresh snow in my back yard above the 3 to 4" we had before this one! The sportsman like it, but I bet my scrammy will love it more, okay, I'll love it more on the scrammy!

10 points for Ridinghard!
Yeah, it was so much fun this morning. But it started getting a little thicker and stickier by this evening. Good luck with the scrambler, i didnt do so well in high range this morning .
Haha i felt like one of those coast guard ships or drugrunners bouncing over the waves, it was spraying just like water. The deep stuff was best, like i said, some of it came over the front rack lol. I literally had as much fun as the first time our neighbor took us to the powerline road (i had thought 5 inches was a lot of mud).
Anyways, have fun tomorrow Ridinghard, just watch the snowbanks, they suck u in

Up here in B.C. we have snow for a good portion of the year. There are some photos of it on my picture page, Its been warm and raining here for the last 4 days so its now more like soup than snow.
Hopefully if it stops raining tomorrow I will go riding and test out some new parts I have installed

yeah, the amount and expectations sounded all too familiar! The scrammy did great! It is about 3 feet high on the side of the road and i drove in the ditch, and then drove through the snowbank into the road. I had to back up once, but it made it the second time. After that I am pounding the banks jumping back into the ditch. It is a blast. Wife just came out shaking her head.
