Yes, but if you want to camp right around the store, it'll be really crowded. There will be a constant haze of dust in the air, and the sound of screaming motors all night. The farther south you drive along the railroad tracks, the less crowded it will be. On new years, I camped 8 miles south of the store and had the whole place to myself. And we were only about a 20 minute ride to China Wall. There is a road on each side of the tracks. The west road gets travelled a lot, and is whooped out. Nobody uses the road on the east side. It's dirt, but you can fly down it at 55 mph. Then, 8.4 miles down, you can cross back over the tracks. I know, it sounds like a long way, but it's only about a 10 minute drive to get away from the madness.

Thank you. The last couple of times I was out there it was in April and we camped on Gecko Road but I figure it will be packed this time.

Gecko road always gets crouded with all those Kalifornians. That seams to be the party place while the washes (along the train tracks) is a little more mellow. I would think that the flats (by the Glamis store) would always be noisey from quad traffic, like Kawierider said. But whos going out there to sleep? Thank you for the suggestions. I am building my "POLARIS MONSTER" for this trip. 600cc POLARIS snowmobile engine in a 1998 400 POLARIS sport. I had to extend the frame 16" to get everything to fit. Had it running yesterday. Three cylinder two stroke with custom exhaust sounded awesome.

Some rules are: you need a flag, you need a helmet, you cant ride double, if the cops see you drink a beer and then get on your quad youll get a DUI, is $25.00 for a weeks pass, have fun, dont be a jackass.

EAB hit the nail on the head with this one.

I would also suggest leaving all glass containers at home. They're not allowed out there. Also, try and familiarize yourself with the closed areas. Usually, you'll see the red paddle markers, but they often disappear. This is important because the
Center for Biological Diversity keeps track of people going into the closed areas, and they have threatened to use those incidents to get a court order to close the whole area. Even the ASA admits they could do this.

Ghost69, since you're coming out from Virginia, you might consider renting a toy hauler, or having a trailer towed out there for you. There are companies that will do this.
