Differential housing problem

Ok, I have a problem with the differnetial housing on my Rubicon. Here is a picture of it: http://www.ansley.net/what.jpg. Why is teh black cylinder seperated from the differential housing? What did I break?

The inboard joint of the driveshaft has been dislodged, it appears.
